Jens Thiis writes of Bella Edwards and Eva Mudocci (translated): “I became acquainted with them before Munch did, in Trondheim during a concert tour, when we had a little party for them in our home at Stavne. The brooch which Eva Mudocci is wearing is traditional Norwegian jewellery which I gave her on this occasion”. (Thiis 1933, p. 252, footnote). P. 221.
The British violinist Evangeline Muddock (1883-1953) took the stage name Eva Mudocci and performed often together with the Danish pianist Bella (Isabella) Edwards (1866-1954). They performed in several Norwegian towns in 1902, 1904, 1907 and 1909. Munch probably first met them in Paris in 1903. P. 219.
