LITERATURE: Peter W. Guenther: Edvard Munch, travelling exhibition The University of Houston 1976.

Gustav Schiefler observed in “Verzeichnis des graphischen Werks Edvard Munchs”, Berlin 1907, p. 17:

He represents jealousy in the agonized features of a man with keen, shining eyes and a pointed beard, in such a way that one believes one is experiencing the tormenting pricks of passion oneself. The scene the tortured man sees before his mental eye is expressed in soft, flowing lines as his beloved stands naked before his rival. P. 84.
