It is not possible, at least not up until today, to say anything specific about who these two seated men are. Likewise it is not possible to say anything more specific about where this drawing was made than: From Germany.

The paper has the watermark "J WHATMAN TURKEY MILL 1897". There is a drawing in the Munch Museum on the same type of paper, which without a doubt can be dated to 1906 and which without a doubt was drawn in Warnemünde. There is reason to believe, therefore, that this watercolor was made in 1906 to 1907, but to be within a timeframe that one can be absolutely certain of, the Munch Museum has put from 1905 to 1908 in their catalogue of drawings.

From 1906 to 1907 Edvard Munch was in Bad Kösen, Bad Ilmenau and in Weimar. He was in Berlin and in Warnemünde. He traveled a lot around in Germany during those years.
