LITERATURE: Pola Gauguin: Grafikeren Edvard Munch Tresnitt og raderinger (The graphic Artist Edvard Munch Woodcuts and Drypoints), Trondheim 1946.

Gerd Woll: Edvard Munch – The complete graphic Works, Oslo 2012.

Two graphic works by Edvard Munch are now called "Harpyie", the intaglio print from 1894, Woll 4, and the lithograph from 1899, Woll 145.

Pola Gauguin writes about the intaglio print which is now called "Harpyie", Woll 4, but which he calls "Vampire" among other things:

The motif is the classic one with the woman as an all-consuming creature, who does not give in until she has sucked all force of life and all creative ability out of the man's body and soul. P. 64.
