LITERATURE: Magne Bruteig: Munch – Drawings, Oslo 2004.
Salome is removed from her biblical context and turned into a symbol of perverse womanhood. Driven by animal desires, she attempts to take possession of the man’s mind, symbolized by his head. It perhaps suggests that it was Munch’s view that woman wished to seize possession not just of man’s reason but also his emotions. P. 91.
