“This picture had been considered as Harriet’s first landscape painting, but cannot have been executed by her. It is too professionally painted to be her first attempt, and does not remind of anything she would paint later on within the landscape genre. It is however typical of Kitty Kielland at this time, from looking at the detailed flowers in the foreground. Yet the painting does carry Harriet’s signature, scratched in with dry paint, and must have been applied by another--much later.”
