Selling with Grev Wedels Plass Auksjoner
GWPA are experts in Edvard Munch and Norwegian 19th Century Fine Art and Modern paintings of high quality. We are constantly seeking quality works, and have listed artists that are in demand as an indication for our clients. We emphasise quality at every stage, personal service and low costs for clients.
We sell oil paintings and sculptures by acknowledged artists, of which the value is assumed to be above NOK 50,000. We also sell graphic works where the value is over NOK 5,000.
The Sales Procedure at GWPA:
1. Send photos of the relevant artworks. This is without obligation and free of charge.
2. We will respond with a preliminary estimate, and whether or not we can assist with the sale.
3. We will arrange a meeting, either at your home, digitally, or at our offices in Central Oslo. This is still without obligation and free of charge.
4. We will meet and discuss a sales plan catered to your artwork and circumstances. If we come to an agreement, we will sign a simple contract, which includes price estimate, a reserve price, date of sale, transport, potential restorations, insurance, and cost of the sales mission.
5. You leave the work with GWPA, who will examine the work, conduct research, and prepare the marketing strategy.
6. We are available in advance of the auction to discuss the pre-sale interest.
7. The auction itself can be followed via streaming if your work is being sold at one of our live auctions, or online if it is being sold at one of our online auctions.
8. The results from the auction can be found on our website immediately after sale.
9. You will receive the settlement within 30 days following the auction.
Advantages of selling through Grev Wedels Plass Auctions:
Specialists
Grev Wedels Plass Auksjoner has a professional staff with over thirty years of experience in this field. We emphasize quality at every stage, personal service and low costs for clients. The staff travels both domestically and abroad valuing art. We have an extensive network, both Norwegian and international, with regard to buyers and sellers.
Tailor-made marketing
A successful art sale requires contact with the right buyers, and the use of professional marketing to reach the clients. We establish tailor-made marketing strategies for every object we agree to sell. There are many important aspects to our marketing mix such as internet presentations, comprehensive presentation including text and photo in the auction catalogue, previews out of town and abroad, direct contact with potential buyers etc. Cleaning and restoration of paintings and frames can also have a positive effect on sales results. All of this is arranged with each individual seller before we agree on the cost of the commission.
Low costs for the seller
The prime concern for a seller is the net value paid to him after the sale. We maintain that a seller’s costs should be reasonable, and in proportion to our sales effort and to the end result. Our policy is «No cure no pay».
